Blog: Virtual Pet Sims

This page contains a blog for English Composition B.

About Me:

My name is Tayonna, I am currently a senior in high school. My favorite past times consist of drawing, reading, and following pet sim communities on Tumblr. I’ve been playing virtual pet sims since 2015. The first sim I ever played was Flight Rising and I have loved it since.

I enjoy pet sims because they are a good way to pass the time if you just want something to do. They don’t necessarily require a lot of time to play and all include their own form of creativity. Pet sim communities tend to be very close-knit so they tend to be friendly environments. For this blog, I will be posting about the games, Flight Rising, Lioden, and Chicken Smoothie.

Nocturne Nation: History of Flight Rising's Night of the Nocturne

Updated: Jan 10, 2019

Note: Flight Rising is a virtual pet sim about dragons. You can learn more about it here.

Twas the night before December 20th

When all through the site

Not a dragon was stirring

Until the nocturnes took flight

Night of the Nocturne is a Flight Rising event that starts near the end of December each year and lasts for a week into January. Night of the Nocturne (NotN) is notably the most anticipated event of every year for Flight Rising users. The following will explain the significance and history of this beloved event.

Flight Rising is a virtual pet game featuring different breeds of dragons. Each breed of dragon is unique in design and are all greatly loved by the Flight Rising fanbase. Fans are always extremely excited to see new types of dragons join the Flight Rising family.

Since the start of the game, Flight Rising has promised its fanbase that they would introduce a new dragon breed each year, so when December of 2014 rolled around, there was no new breed to be found, the user base crawled into a fit of confusion. Many fans feared Flight Rising had decided to skip introducing a new breed for 2014 all together. Even though this made a lot fans sad, many still said they would appreciate the game just as equally as they did before. It didn’t matter if it took several years to see new dragon content, the world of Flight Rising was compelling and fun, users wouldn’t give that up for a simple delay. Little did they know that the Flight Rising staff had something planned all along.

Finally, on December 21st 2014, a brand new breed and a new event to go along with it. Just like that, the Night of the Nocturne became the most anticipated FR event of the year. NotN features an exclusive breed of dragon called the nocturne. These dragons (you guessed it) are nocturnal and live in dark places. In respect of this, Flight Rising gave them a bat-like appearance. Nocturnes are very aloof in nature and love to play tricks. If you are poking around the website you might just find a strange chest left by one of these mysterious dragons containing a rare item which can basically make you in-game rich if you use it wisely enough, making NotN the money-making season for Flight Rising players. For this reason, this event is the most essential part of the year. From my experience alone, I’ve made 6 billion treasure (FR currency) worth of items during NotN

Although Night of the Nocturne is appreciated for the treasure, users never forget how appreciative they are for the game in its entirety. The Flight Rising staff works hard to produce exciting new content for it’s users to enjoy. NotN taught us to value how much the staff is able to accomplish for us, and brought a new meaning to being a Flight Rising fan. It brought out the positive aspects of the userbase and showed them to love what brought them together. And that’s what made Night of the Nocturne the most anticipated Flight Rising holiday of the year
